Carl Irvin Carlson passed away on December 27, 2004 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 74 years. He was born May 12, 1930 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Irvin (Swede) is survived by his wife of 50 years Madeline; daughter, Marina (Frank) Van Nynatten; son, Wayne (Denise) Carlson; grandchildren, Chelsea and Michael Carlson; brothers, Norman (Connie) and Oscar; sister-in-law, Patricia (George) Sneddon; brother-in-law, Allen (Vera) Blask and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Emilia in 1943, his father, Ernest in 1969 and his sister Maureen in 1998. Irvin had been a well known long time resident of the LaGlace/Hythe area. He worked many years in the construction industry and in the sawmills, logging with horses. Irvin retired with 25 years of service with the City of Grande Prairie in 1991 and then moved to Chilliwack. Irvin loved life to the fullest, he was a very kind, compassionate and generous man. He loved horses, his music, he had a passion for hockey and gardening and was a genuine craftsman when it came to woodworking. Dad loved people, children and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all his family, all his many friends in Chilliwack and the Grande Prairie area and his special little friends Siobhán, Pierce, Koltan, Konner and York. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Rd. Chilliwack, BC with Pastor Harold Throness officiating. Viewing will take place before the service. A Memorial Service will also be held in Grande Prairie, Alberta on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Bolstad officiating. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
