We sadly announce the suden passing of our beloved Mom at the age of 79 years, on April 18, 2008. She was born in Great Crosby, Liverpool, England on February 11, 1929 to Sidney and Margarita Sumner.
She was predeceased by her Father (1970), Mother (1973), her husband Eric (1998), her son Andy (1997) and her son-in-law Mike (1990).
She is survived by her two daughters: Kathy (Guy) of Maple Ridge, and Liz (Richard) and their son Eric of Victoria. She is also survived by her brother, David (Kate) Sumner from England; and her sister Joan Jones from England.
Brenda found her niche as a Community Librarian at the Aldergrove Branch of the Fraser Valley Regional Library, where she worked for 19 years before retiring in 1994. Which was, in her own words, a magical occupation for someone who enjoyed a life-long love affair with the written word.
After retirement, Brenda, along with her husband Eric, moved to Chilliwack and she was free to pursue her love of reading, creative writing and her computer. Her true passion was Words! Her stories and articles have appeared in several print and on-line publications. She also received several awards for her writing, one award leading to a memorable trip to New York with her daughters.
She would like to be remembered as a listener who knew everyone’s secrets and always kept them.
On Sat, April 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. her daughters would like you to join them for a memorial service at Henderson’s Funeral Home at 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC. Reception to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the “Cottonwood Clubhouse“ 7610 Evans Road, Chilliwack (entrance at Knight )
