Blondine Huebner (Dina) nee Pilz

On October 24 our loving and soulfully beautiful mother joined the heavenly universe. Her creative and undaunted spirit was an inspiration that will live on in the many lives she touched during her lifetime.

Born in Kremjanke Ukraine on November 22, 1922, she immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1948, settling in Edmonton with her husband Eric and son Erwin. Having survived the ravages of Stalinism and World War II, she embraced the freedom and opportunities Canada provided. Our mother dedicated her life to her four children, encouraging us to follow our individual dreams whatever they may be.

In 1973 our mother and father relocated to Chilliwack, opening Huebner Jewellers. For 23 years they were an active part of the downtown business community. Our mother loved the entrepreneurial side of business, managing the boutique and serving their many dedicated customers. After retiring she was as adept at laying a hardwood floor or pouring concrete patios, as she was at crocheting the finest silver wire into a uniquely exquisite jewelry collection. At 84 she was actively involved in the design and construction of her new home.

Dina is survived by son, Erwin Huebner (Judy Huebner), daughters Krista Kilvert (David Kilvert), Lorraine Huebner and grandchildren Eric Hulme and Kyla Huebner. Remaining family in Germany include sister Erika Schmuda and brothers Waldemar Pilz and Leo Pilz.

Our mother was predeceased by our father Eric Huebner, our brother, her youngest son, Ron Huebner, and her brothers Traugart Pilz and Bernard Pilz.

A very special expression of gratitude to exceptional caregivers Barbara Fehr and Slavka Kalinova.

Celebration of Life, Saturday, November 4, 11 am. Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home.
