(nee Lewis)

Betty was born on May 29th in Bracken Saskatchewan to Richard and Violet Lewis. She moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1939, and in 1947 she moved to Gleichen.

After graduating from high school she went to Calgary to the Marvel School of Beauty. She worked as a hairdresser in Camrose Alberta, for Ceceil’s for beauty for about one year.

She went home to look after her sick mother who required surgery on her leg.

Betty worked for the Bank of Commerce while waiting for her mother to recover. Betty then worked for F.E.S.L. as a bookkeeper.

Married Richard John Gosick August 1, 1958 in All Sappers Chapel Currie Barracks, Calgary, Alberta. August 2nd they were posted to Fredericton N.B.

Betty returned to Gleichen and worked for the Bank of Commerce until July 1960 while Dick was in the Middle East as a U.N. Peacekeeper.

Upon his return in 1960 they moved to Sardis, BC. Betty worked for 11 years for Eaton’s and then worked as a bookkeeper for various small businesses.

They bought a small acreage near Yarrow where they still reside. She was a partner to the “Penny Pinchers” in Vedder Crossing until she retired. She spent her leisure time between completing crosswords, crocheting, flowerbeds, knitting for family and friends, and spending time at the Seniors O.A.P.O. #173 in Sardis.

Her perogies, cabbage rolls, carrot cake, and beanpot were always the center of all our family gatherings.

Her love for her family was exemplified by the love, patience, and care it took to produce the Family Tree. Even in her last year she produced two cookbooks, one for her family, and one for the OAPO #173.

Betty is survived by her husband Richard (Dick), retired, Brian (Betty) self-employed roofing contractor; Joanne Hodges (Tim Husky Oil), dental assistant, Darrell (Cheryl) prison guard, homemaker, Lorne (Jennifer) HR Supervisor Uneeda Forest Products, Psychiatric Nurse, Chilliwack General Hospital, her eight grandchildren Richard, Kevin, and Kimberly Gosick.
