October 12, 1931 - December 21, 2024
Betty passed away peacefully at Kelowna Hospice on December 21, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born October 12, 1931, in Chilliwack, BC to Leticia and Frank Arnold. She had two older sisters, Ruth and Joan and one younger sister Patricia (Pat). They all remained close throughout their lives.
Her parents owned Arnold's Cyclery in Chilliwack, but in 1940 her father passed away and her mom had to take over the operation of the bike store. Betty and Patsy, being the youngest, were sent to attend Taunten House Girls School in Capilano. Although they missed their Mom, they had frequent visits throughout the school year and had many fond memories of their time there. When Betty left school, she went to work at Henry's Meat Market in Sardis and then on to the Singer Store in Chilliwack where she learned to become an excellent sewer.
In 1955 she married Glen, the love of her life. They enjoyed attending dances and had many camping adventures together with family and friends. Mom enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, doing crosswords and she used her computer to connect with friends and family until the week she passed. She lived in her own home until the age of 92 when she went to live with her daughter in Lake Country.
She was a loving Mom to Julie (Richard), David (Debbie), Judy (Walter), and a wonderful Grandma to Carlie, Greg, Glen, Tyler, Jody and Scott, Aaron and Marcus and Great-Grandma to Ryan, Bailey, Jacob, Seth, Kayla, Jay, Olivia and David Tate. She was predeceased by her husband Glen in 2017, her daughter-in-law Debbie in 2022, and son David in 2024.
Mom will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
