Bertha FORDHAM

Bertha Fordham, late of McIntosh Lodge, formerly of Sardis passed away November 23, 2003 in Chilliwack at the age of 90 years. She was born August 11, 1913 in Leader, Saskatchewan and had lived in this area for 53 years.

Bertha was a teacher, married Bill Fordham and together they farmed on the Prairies . In 1949 they moved to Sardis and continued farming. She was a life member of the Atchelitz Women’s Inst., the Council of Women, and a member of Carman United Church. Bertha enjoyed many hobbies and crafts and did many hours of volunteer work.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, November 29th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Ireland officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.

She is survived by 1 son, Ken of Sardis; 3 daughters, Margaret (Doug) Simpson of Sardis; Evelyn Fordham of Surrey and Beverley (Jim) Maddams of Sardis; daughter-in-law, Joyce Fordham of Sardis; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Lydia Heffke; 3 brothers, Gerhart, Ted, and Fred; her husband Bill Fordham in 2000; daughter Laurie in 1967 and grandson Brian Simpson in 1991.
