(St. Martin) - Bernice Martha Jean Wheeler. It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Bernice Wheeler of Chilliwack on January 4, 2013. Her memory will be cherished by her children: Catharine (Gary) Cathcart of Nanaimo, BC, Kenneth Wheeler (Karen) of Nanaimo, BC, Michael (Karen J.) Wheeler of Richmond, BC, and Carl Wheeler of Abbotsford, BC; six grandchildren: Robert, Christopher, Caitlin, Leon, Benjamin and Jamie; and one great-grandchild, Connor; sisters: Lorraine Kremer of Fernie, BC, Sherry Martineau of St. Albert; brother, Jacques St. Martin of Beaumont, Alberta.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband Roy Wheeler; brother, Rodney St. Martin; and her parents, Leon and Ethel St. Martin, formerly from Legal, Alberta.

Bernice left home at 18 and joined the military life where she met and married her husband Roy. They were posted across Canada and finally settled in Nanaimo, BC. They moved to Chilliwack when Roy retired. She loved to cook, garden and spent her down time crafting and left a legacy of numerous needlepoint art works which her family will treasure. She had a big heart and gave her time to her family and volunteered with the Legion. She will be sadly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Bernice’s life will occur in the spring in the lower mainland of British Columbia. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association of BC.
