Bernardus Praat passed away on May 17, 2009 at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack at age 77 years. He was born on September 30, 1931 in Schagen, Holland.
Survived by his wife of 43 years, Johanna; his kids: Alex (Brenda), Ron (Karen), Willie (Rose), Cecilia (Derek), and Michael; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Bernhard Praat in 1971.
Bert immigrated to Canada in 1953 and got married in 1965. Throughout his life, he worked in the logging industry, construction, and dairy farming. He retired in 1986. During his retirement he enjoyed travelling, fishing and being with his family.
A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
