Ben was born to Mary and Dick Braun in a sod hut, August 12, 1929 in Herbert, Sask. Ben was raised in Surrey, Vedder and Yarrow. Ben had to leave home and enter the workforce at the age of 14 with a grade 8 education. He became a talented carpenter and eventually a site superintendant. He had careers with R.A. Adair Construction and Voth Brothers. Many of his schools and buildings will be serving the Fraser Valley for years to come.
Ben met and married Jean McDade September 22, 1950. They shared a life together until her death in 1995, and they enjoyed many years of retirement entertaining family and friends at their home on the Sunshine Coast. Ben found happiness again when he married Fay Klassen in 1997. He also made a couple of trips across Canada.
Ben was predeceased by his wives Jean and Fay, brother Jack and sister Anne. He is survived by son Larry (Mary), daughter Bev Dennis (Ray), son Alan. He also leaves behind 5 lovely granddaughters and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by stepsons Larry Klassen (Sandra) and Allan Klassen (Teresa).
