Beatrice Giesbrecht passed away peacefully on her 90th birthday, December 25, 2021 at The Oxford Senior Care Home in Abbotsford. Bea was born in Prince George, BC and was the oldest of 4 children. Her family moved to Surrey in her early teens where she went to High School.
She spent summers with girlfriends picking berries and working in the Sumas hop fields. It was there she met her future husband John Giesbrecht whom she married April 1st in 1950 in Chilliwack.
They had 4 children, Randy, Wendy, Wayne and Barry. Together they opened Pioneer Building Supplies in 1964 which is still a family business in Chilliwack.
Bea loved spending time with family and traveling together. She also enjoyed golf, photography, and was an avid artist working in oils and watercolor. She volunteered in several capacities over the years through her church and local community.
She is predeceased by her husband John and survived by her children Randy (Donna), Wendy, Wayne (Cathy) and Barry (Shirley); her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be interred next to her husband John at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Hillcrest Drive.
A special thank you to the nurses and the staff at The Oxford for their kind and compassionate care of Bea while she was there. She will be missed but her kindness to others, her love for her family and her grace will be remembered.
