(Gus)

Augustus (Gus) Hartman passed away peacefully on April 18, 2011 aged 87. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Paul (a doctor in LA, California); Peter (living in Western Australia) and Mary, his wife of 54 years.

Gus left Ireland at the age of 17 to eventually join the R.A.F. Aircrew in England and serve in WWII. Immigrating to Canada in 1953, Gus joined the R.C.A.F. for 18 years, plying his trade in electronics through 10 years with N.A.T.O. in the Republic of Germany and with the UN in the Middle East, before retiring and immigrating to Australia with his family to meet his mother-in-law and extended family in 1971, staying 18 years, where Mary, an RN nursed and lectured at Murdoch University and hospital for 11 years retiring in 1989 aged 66.

Leaving one son, who was born in Australia, while with the UN and the other, finishing his specialty medicine at Yale University, Gus and Mary returned to the Canada they loved in 1989 to stay for good, settling in Chilliwack 14 years ago.

His parting will be greatly missed by the many friends and relatives across the world who enjoyed his sense of humor and sincere friendship. He may now have the peace he so justly deserves.
