McLELLAN, Audrey Doreen (Micki)
May 30, 1930 – July 30, 2015
It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of “Micki” McLellan after a brief illness at Chilliwack General Hospital. A long time resident of Chilliwack, Micki was born in Wolsley, Saskatchewan, the youngest of 8 children to George & Hannah Bishop.
After graduating high school in 1948, Micki and her friend, Shirley, took the train to BC to spend the summer with her brother, Bob Bishop, who was stationed at CFB Chilliwack. Both friends met military men and had a double wedding March 25, 1950. Micki worked at CFB Chilliwack for 33 years while raising 2 children, Scott and Joanne. After retirement, Micki and Archie took up golf, becoming members at Kinkora Golf Club, where Micki remained a member after Archie’s passing and won many trophies with the Ladies League. She and Archie were also active members of the Chilliwack Curling Club. Always curious about people and places, she loved to read, travel and was never too busy to stop and chat with friends and acquaintances, some she knew for over 60 years. An avid crib player, enjoying Sunday afternoons at the ANAVets. Some she even won! She had a kind and generous heart for donating and volunteering, this combined with her exceptional organizational skills, made her a true asset to many community events and at her church, St. John’s Anglican. Predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Archie (2011) and her son, Scott (1991) and her 7 siblings. Left to mourn their loss but remembered lovingly by her daughter Joanne (Warren) Hancock, 5 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and many friends, especially her best friend of 70 years, Shirley Hayward. Micki, a strong and independent soul, will be remembered at a memorial service FRIDAY, AUGUST 21st at 1:00PM at St John’s Anglican Church, 46078 Higginson Rd Chilliwack. A private family interment to follow at Vedder View Cemetery.
