Audrey (nee Moline) McKay

June 22, 1929 ~ February 5, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Audrey McKay on February 5, 2017, in Kelowna BC. Audrey was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan, the third of ten children born to William and Emma Moline. Life on the farm was full of wonderful memories for Mom. For eight years, beginning in 1948, Audrey taught school in one room school houses throughout rural Saskatchewan. She ventured on to teach in the North West Territories, the Yukon, and Prince George BC before settling in Chilliwack in 1967. She retired from teaching in 1985. In July of 1957 Audrey married Morris McKay. They had three children, Robert, Karen and Patricia. After Morris passed away December 1993, Audrey found happiness again when she married her former childhood schoolmate Alden Carlsen in August of 1996. After four years in Chilliwack they moved to Kelowna.

Audrey is survived by her husband of twenty years Alden Carlsen, her children Robert (Laura) McKay and Patricia (Jacob) Bestebroer, and her grandchildren Stephanie, Josh, Sophie and Abby. The Carlsen extended family also loved Mom very much. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, 1st husband Morris McKay in 1993, one sister (Vangie), two brothers (Bennie and Freddie) and daughter Karen in 1962.

Those who remember Audrey will miss her sweet loving mannerisms and joy of spending time with family and cherished friends. A Memorial Service will take place in mid-April. Date to be announced.
