July 2, 1932 - January 15, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mom, mother-in-law, nan and great nanny. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her son Robert John (Debbie), daughters-in-law Polly (Russ) Beckwith and Rita McGimpsey. Grandchildren Jenna (Derek), Michael (Paige), Sarah (Guillaume), Bradley, Brent (Andrina), Meagan (Matt) and great grandchildren - her "2 boyfriends" Jacob and Lucas, Brooklyn and Kaitlyn, Morgane and Makena.
She was predeceased by the love of her life Robert and her 2 cherished sons, Douglas and Richard. Mom was born in Teulon, Manitoba the eldest of 4 daughters. She is also survived by one sister, Enid Irwin.
When their parents went off to war, mom went to live with her grandparents and resided there until her and dad married. They lived in Stony Mountain,Manitoba and owned and operated the general store. Many endearing, lifelong friendships were formed during these years. Mom loved to reminisce and recall these cherished memories whenever she had a listening ear.
She enjoyed curling, teaching Sunday school and dad and her were the couple to watch at the local dances.
In 1967 they headed west and settled in Abbotsford. During these years mom devoted herself to her family and anyone who graced her immaculate home were fed and entertained. With company coming from far and wide, a sign was made naming our home - "The Five Star Motel."We often suggested to mom to hang out a "No Vacancy" sign!
After dad passed in 2016, mom moved to Chilliwack to be closer to her family. Nothing gave her greater joy, than spending time with them.
We would like to thank Dr. Vanderhorst and the NU3 staff, for their care and attention given to mom. Due to restrictions imposed at this time, we will have a celebration
of mom's life, at a later date.
2 Corinthians 5:8 -We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
