Archibald BARR

Archibald Campbell (Archie)

August 15, 1923 – July 26, 2016

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Archie Barr at his home in Sardis. He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Don) Forbes & Brenda (Barry) MacIntyre, grandchildren Joanna (Jeff) Kasper, Jordie (Jen) Forbes, Gary (Kendra) Forbes, Shannon (Kyle) Hopfner, Robin Forbes (Carlie), Brent MacIntyre (Carrie) and Kristin MacIntryre (Matt), and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Edith (nee Higginson), and his brothers, Bill and Bob. He was born and grew up in rural Alberta, where he joined the army, then served overseas in World War II. He and Edith were married in 1948, and they farmed on Higginson Road in Sardis with Edith’s brother Leonard and wife Helen. He was active in St. John’s church and was always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbours. He deserved and received the love and affection of all his family. Those who knew him will miss his warm sense of humour and kind heart.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46078 Higginson Road, Sardis at 3pm on Friday, August 5, 2016. Donations in Archie’s memory may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or the charity of your choice.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
