In Loving Memory ~
Anthony George Borschneck, MD, passed away on November 12, 2021 at Valleyhaven Retirement Home, at age 92. He was born April 4, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Lori (Nick) Elynuik, and Anne Borschneck; his granddaughters, Melanie Lyman, Michaela Borschneck, Corinna (Colin) Watt, and Nicole (Don) Dolfo; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Alice, Abby, and Noah.
Tony was predeceased by his son, Michael, 21, in 1987, his daughter Toni, 32, in 1991, and his wife of 50 years, Gloria, 73, in 2006.
Tony grew up in a large family on the Prairies and southern Ontario, then served in the RCMP 1951-1958. During those years, he met and married Gloria in Chilliwack, grew their family of 3 girls, until his graduation in 1964 from UBC as a medical doctor.
After his internship in Youngstown, Ohio, the family returned to Chilliwack in 1965 where he practiced at Mary Street Medical until 1979. Tony and Gloria adopted their son Michael in 1966. In 1979, Tony and his family moved to Redding, California where he worked as an emergency physician, and later as an industrial doctor.
Once in California, Tony and Gloria created a medical research company to develop and manufacture emergency medical equipment. The medical devices he helped create continue to be sold all over the world. After 43 years living in Redding, Tony moved back to Chilliwack earlier this year to be with family and friends.
Tony valued civic contributions and, over the years, belonged to many organizations such as Rotary, Big Brothers, Chilliwack Volunteer Fire Dept. in the late 1960s, Vedder Investments to develop Silver Tip Ski Resort in the 1970s, developing medical training for ambulance attendants, to name just a few.
He loved fishing, especially deep sea marlin fishing in Hawaii, golf, flying the two-seater Jodel aircraft he built with friends, and reading. He spent much of his retirement years travelling all over the world., and dancing up a storm with his dear friend, Dottie.
Tony will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and great sense of humour! He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, 1 pm, at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack.
