GIESBRECHT, Annie June (nee KLASSEN)

We are thankful for the well-lived life of Annie June Giesbrecht, who joined her husband in heaven on November 12, 2016, only seven weeks after he died. Anne was born in Gem, Alberta on September 28, 1933 to Herman and Maria Klassen, the second youngest of six children. After graduating from Chilliwack High School, Anne studied at St. Paul's Hospital, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1955. Anne married David Giesbrecht on May 15, 1959 in Yarrow. She and Dave raised their four children on a ten acre hobby farm in Richmond. After retiring in 1994, they moved to Greendale. As a teenager, Anne became a Christian, which impacted the way she lived for the rest of her life. She was a Godly example to her family and friends, served in the church and was a compassionate nurse. Anne loved a good joke, flower gardening, writing, poetry, and was a wonderful cook and baker, especially of Mennonite foods. Predeceased by her husband, parents and three siblings, Anne died peacefully. She leaves to mourn: Jim (Sirpa); Howard (Elaine); Elaine Warkentin (Paul); Joyce Harrison (Duncan); eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Fitzpatrick for the gentle way he cared for Anne and for his home visits. Also, our appreciation goes to the great nurses and staff at Cascade Lodge. Anne's Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Yarrow MB Church, officiated by Pastor Ron Braun. Anne was buried next to Dave at the Yarrow Cemetery.
