Anita Marlis O’Flaherty

August 16, 2007

After a short, very brave, and courageous fight with cancer, Anita passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 16, 2007.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Reid O’Flaherty, son Patrick, grandchildren Kelsey and Sean, daughter Keely (Les) Lindhout, grandchildren Gerrit and Marlee. Anita will also be greatly missed by her mother, Hulda Hubner, her brothers Alfred (Kim), and nephew Matthew, and Harry (Karen) Hubner. Anita was so thankful and blessed to have such a large and wonderful extended family, and many special friends all of whom will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her father Walter Hubner.

She was born in Germany on July 22, 1949 and came to Canada in 1954. Anita touched many lives through all she did whether at work or play. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, reading, SHOPPING, and Sudoku. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and camping. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren, “her little darlings.”

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Heather Leyen and Dr. McDonald and the wonderful nursing staff at CGH. for their exceptional care.

A Memorial Service and tea will be held for family and friends at the Chilliwack United Church on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Major Angus Haggarty officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency or any charity in memory of Anita.

“She was the glue that held everything together.”
