(nee Holmes)

It is with great sorrow and peace in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Amelia Jean Irene Shiach (nee Holmes) affectionately called Mickie, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and Auntie on Thursday, January 24 at 11:28 p.m. at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack.  She passed peacefully in her sleep after a short battle with brain cancer.  Her son James was at her side. She lived her life as a shining example of strength, determination, and love.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Despite the trials in her life ... she never gave up. Her greatest achievement, deepest source of pride and living legacy is her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kenneth Alexander Shiach, her daughter and son, Dianne Shewchuk and James Shiach and his wife, Marilyn Shiach. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott Shewchuk, Samara Shiach, Levi Shiach and Shilo Shiach, also several nieces and nephews and by a (family pet) Max. She was born on May 1, 1932 in Cypress River, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Irene Holmes; her sister; Rhoda and three brothers; Clarence, and twins Barry and Garry also by (family pets) Willie and Skeeter. On February 20 at 11:00 a.m. a service celebrating Mickie’s life will take place at Central Community Church at 46100 Chilliwack Central Road in Chilliwack BC. Her final resting place will be in Chilliwack Little Mountain cemeteries on Yale Road East in Chilliwack.
