Amalya KURTZ

March 1, 2008

Amalya Kurtz went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on March 1, 2008.

Amalya was born in Saratov, Russia, April 25, 1916. She and husband Karl immigrated from Poland to Canada in 1937 and settled in Bashaw, Alberta, farming there for many years. In 1966, they moved, with their son Cornelius, to Chilliwack. She was a good mother who faithfully prayed for her family and loved each one dearly and we will miss her. Amalya spent many hours gardening and opening her home to their many friends.

Following the passing of Karl in 1980, she continued to enjoy her church family at Central Pentecostal Assembly, walking to town with her neighbourhood friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In 1995, Amayla moved into Eden Rest Home and remained there until her passing. The family greatly appreciates the love and care the nursing staff at Eden offered to our mother during her years with them.

Amalya is survived by her son Cornelius (Maxine); granddaughter: Lynnette (Luke) Switzer; and grandson: Brendan (Deanna) Kurtz; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Caden, Jensen, Aleasha and Clay; and her niece: Lydia (Manfred) Thamm.

She was predeceased by her husband Karl and brother Alex Erisman.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 between 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack
