Alvin Harmon Patterson passed away on September 1, 2008 at Cascade Lodge at the age of 92 years. He was born in Edmonton Alberta on May 26, 1916.

Alvin is survived by his loving wife Lauretta; sons: Gordon (Karen) and Dennis (Chris); grandchildren: Jerry (Lisa), Robert, Cheryl (Chris); and great grandchildren: Alex and Kristina.

He was sadly predeceased by four sisters, and his granddaughter Lisa and great-granddaughter Samantha.

Alvin was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas as a signalman. He was a stationary steam engineer in Spurfield, Alberta, and went on to spend many years in 100 Mile House building homes.

He loved to fish, camp, and travel, and he and Lauretta spent many happy winters travelling to Desert Hot springs. He had a special love of woodworking, and made furniture for his family.

Alvin spent his later years dancing in many nursing homes in the Chilliwack area. He was very much a family man, he loved children, and thought the world of his family. Alvin was a good teacher, entrepreneur, and grandfather. He was greatly respected by his family and many friends.

A visitation for the comfort of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Avenue, Chilliwack.

A Celebration of Alvin’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 45765 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack BC.

Memorial Donations in honour of Alvin Patterson may be made to BC Children’s Hospital, 4480 Oak Street, B321, Vancouver, BC V6H 3V4.
