Alma was born on July 1st, 1921 in Klostitz, Basserabia and passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2006. She was the oldest daughter of Rudolf and Anna Steinwand.
Alma came to Canada in 1927 and settled with her parents in Delia, Alberta. After a few years the family moved to Holden, Alberta where they did mixed farming and Alma was employed at the Holden creamery.
In 1964 Alma and her husband Bill moved to Chilliwack. Here she worked for Kel-Tone Cleaners for many years. Her hobbies were crocheting and she was a good seamstress, sewing for her friends. Alma attended the Central Pentecostal Church until about two years ago when cancer invaded her body.
She was predeceased by her father in 1970, her husband in 1974 and her mother in 1993. She is survived by her only sister Toni Thompson and nephew Larry Thompson. She will be missed by many relatives and friends in Alberta.
Graveside service will be held at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Wednesday, May 24th, 2006 at 10:00 am with the memorial service following at Henderson’s Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Rev. Ron Daase officiating.
