Allan Mitchell

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dad, Allan Mitchell on July 18, 2017 at the age of 96. Dad was born in Chilliwack in 1921 and lived most of his life here. He married the love of his life Evelyn Thornton in 1944 and were married for 69 years. They had 3 children Bill (Debbie), Sandi Esau (Tom), and Debbie Ohlhausen (Gary), grandchildren Kristy, Haley, Tory, Josh, Dean, Jen and Katie and great grandchildren Cole, Avery, Dean, Conner, Brody, Owen, Noah, Brooke and Zoe. Dad joined the Air Force during the war and loved to tell stories about their exploits. He never lost his love of flying and was always game to take to the skies whether it be in an ultralight plane, a biplane doing rolls and dives, a Cessna or a jet. After the war Allan and Evelyn settled in Chilliwack and Allan was one of the founding partners in 1946 of the Chilliwack Dairy. After selling the dairy they moved to Duncan in the fifties until their return to Chilliwack in the mid sixties. Allan sold Life Insurance until his retirement at 65. They loved to travel and took over 20 trips to Hawaii, cruises to Alaska and lots of camping adventures. Dad was full of energy and loved to garden at his own place or at any of our homes. He enjoyed all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has left us all with a lifetime of fond memories. We would like to thank his doctor Ken Hirst and the staff at the Waverly Seniors Home for the amazing care and kindness bestowed on Dad during his last days. He passed away peacefully and now is reunited with his love once again. By request there will be no service.
