Allan passed away, peacefully, December 1, 2021 at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Vera in 2002, Brother Garnett in 2019 and best friend Dean McTavish in 2015.
He was born in Winnipeg, Mb. to Ernest and Thelma Wheeler. He took his schooling in Flin Flon, started his career at Hudson's Bay Mining, and became manager of the new Flin Flon Hotel. He was very active in sports, as a boxer, a baseball umpire and pitcher for Johnny's Cardinals in the Polar League.
In 2019 Allan attended his own induction into the Manitoba Hall of Fame, as a member of the Flin Flon Warriors Hockey Club - Canadian Intermediate Hockey Champions 1965 -1966.
Since early 70's Allan resided in BC. He and his wife Vera enjoyed a successful career in hotel management around the province. They received many rewards and accolades for their best practices and exceptional customer service.
Allan is survived and lovingly remembered by his Sister-in-law Maxine Wheeler, of Saskatoon; nieces Arlene (Kurt), Candice (Cory) and nephews Darren (Tania) and Wade (Alicia) as well as Sister Carlene Ariskinoff and Brother Lynn Trach. Allan had three
daughters Terri, Sheryl and Jackie.
Al is sadly missed and loved by those he was closest to, his adopted family, Evelyn McTavish (Karl); Sue Coplin (Tom) & Corenia Chester (Wayne), Jim Jones (Lesley) and Wade Jones (Mary Ellen); plus the numerous nieces and nephews, who enriched Al's life, always included him in family gatherings and enjoyed his humour. We will miss your hilarious phone calls, Ally Oop!
Special Thanks to the medical care teams at the Chilliwack General Hospital for their guidance and compassion. Al's wishes have been followed and a small celebration of his life will take place early in the new year.
