She is lovingly remembered by her husband George, as well as her four children: Pete (Marion), John (Alyson), Sue (Dave) Herfst, Gordon (Karen).
She will be greatly missed by 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren who were very special to her.
Also survived by her siblings and in-laws: Ted Stam, Corrie Boesterd, Clara Stam, Ada (Bob) Davis, Jackie Stam, Corrie Stoutjesdyk, Bert (Jan) Stam, Karel (Mary) Stam, John (Arlene) Stam.
She was predeceased by her parents Andries and Cornelia, her brothers Kees, Adrian and Andrew, sister Jane Boesterd, sister in law Willy Stam, and brother in laws Frank Boesterd and John Stoutjesdyk.
A Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 7 at 1:00pm at the Bethel Netherlands Reformed congregation. The Interment was held at Chilliwack Cemeteries.
Alice immigrated to Canada with her family when she was six years old. She was the youngest of 11 children. At the age of 24 she met George and they were married within a year. They were blessed with four children.
Alice lived a simple life and preferred to be in the background, though her time as church custodian and bus driver helped change that. She is remembered for her ever ready smile and her kindness. Alice was diagnosed with cancer approximately 20 years ago which eventually metastasized.
These last years were challenging for her, but God used this time in her life to refine her spiritually and make her rely on Him for all things. Throughout her cancer journey she displayed a quiet patience and grace and rarely complained about her discomforts. She will be greatly missed by her family.
