Alic George ADAMS

September 22, 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alic George Adams, at age 85 years, on September 22, 2004, at home in the arms of his family.

Alic was born in Cheam, England on January 14, 1919. He emigrated to Canada in 1920 where he resided on the Unsworth Road farm for the next 84 years.

Alic attended Atchelitz School. After leaving school he farmed with his parents, eventually taking over the family farm. Dad loved to dance and it was at a dance that he met his future wife.

Dad was a Boy Scout leader with Atchelitz and 1st Sumas troops. He was a member of the Atchelitz Farmer’s Institute for over 35 years. He volunteered as a piano player at several seniors facilities. He was always there when anybody needed a hand. His family was very important to him.

After retirement, Alic and Irene enjoyed bus trips to Reno, cruising to Alaska, and the Carribean (he wouldn’t wear shorts) and his varied trips with MaxTours.

Alic will be sadly missed by Irene, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Doug (Gloria), and Ernie; daughter Lorraine Thomson (Charlie); daughters-in-law, Sharon Adams and Wendy Dobell. Also survived by his grandchildren, Toni Botham (Tim), Tara Dobson (Matt), Tracy Adams, Shane Thomson (Heidi), Blair Thomson (Carla), Clark Thomson (Bev), Andrew Adams, and Geoff Adams; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Agnes Adams; and by his eldest son Floyd.

Thank you to Dr. Paul Basson and staff, Home Support Services, and his faithful friend, Sagar Preston.

A memorial tea will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Atchelitz Farmers’ Institute Hall on Lickman Rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Pacific Riding for the Disabled, c/o 47240 Greenhill Rd., Chilliwack, B.C. V2R 4T2, or to the charity of your choice.
