Alfred John Smith

November 26, 1927 - May 14, 2016

Alf left us quietly at the Campbell River Hospital, with his "Bevy of Nurses" at his side. Now together again, he rejoins his wife Doreen, who preceded him in 2011 after over 61 years of marriage. Born on a rural Saskatchewan farm, Alf lived the majority of his life in Chilliwack and worked for the District of Chilliwack for 40 years until his retirement in 1992. Alf and Doreen relocated to Campbell River in 2003 to be closer to family. In the days since his passing he has been described as a loving, stubborn, hard working, fun, soft spoken, special man, Tough Ol? Bugger, and great guy. He will be remembered for his twinkling eyes and impish grins. Alf leaves behind a Brother, Ernie, in Prince George, His Sister Muriel Brown in Chilliwack, many nieces and nephews. Also a Grandson, Ross and Great Grandson, Tre, and lovingly saying goodbye, Daughter Lauri and Son-In-Law, Ron Collins of Campbell River. A special thanks to VIHA Home Support and Loving friend Gail for your support these past years. No service at Alf?s request, but for all that knew him to crack a beer and tip a toast. ?This Buds For You POPS!?
