February 25, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alfred Gebert on February 25th at the age of 93. Alfred was born in Nuremburg Germany in January 1932. Alfred was a child during WW2 and survived many hardships, including the death of his mother when he was two. He came to Canada in 1953. Where he settled in Ottawa and met the love of his life Vaida. In February 1969 he was visiting a friend in Chilliwack with beautiful weather and there was a blizzard at home. That was it! The family was moving to BC. Alfred was a Master Bricklayer and built many homes and fireplaces in Chilliwack. He had many hobbies, fishing, hunting, camping, raising pigeons and his beloved garden. In retirement Alfred and Vaida always had tea at 3 o'clock and friends knew they would find them at home and would be welcomed for a visit. Alfred is survived by his loving wife Vaida, children, Andy (Kathy) and Rita (Vic).
