Albert Dominic Phillips passed away on November 29, 2003 at Chilliwack, aged 64 years. He was born on December 23, 1938 at Agassiz.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons William David (Cheryl Prest), James Albert (Barbie Stewart); daughters, Vivian (Stephen) Williams, Mary Elizabeth (Robert) Combes, Ann James, Rena Lillian (Mike Quinn) Boulier; traditionally adopted daughters, Cheryl Brooks and Mona Valenzuela. He is also survived by his brother Francis Joseph (Victorine) Phillips and sister Celestine Louis. He was predeceased by his father Albert Phillips Sr. and his mother Cecilia Douglas, daughters Monica Elaine Williams, Alvina Darlene Shaw, Shirley Arlene Phillips, sister Mindy Araneda, brother Andrew Phillips and grandchildren Andrew Michael Williams and Darlene Rose Marie James.
Albert Phillips was a member of the Coqualeetza Elders and a respected member of Sto:lo Nation. He contributed his wisdom and knowledge of the Halq’emeylem language and culture to those who would lend an ear.
Funeral Mass was held on December 4, 2003 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Fathers Gary Gordon and Gerry Guillet celebrants. Cremation. Memorial Donations may be made to the C.N.I.B., The Canadian Diabetes Association, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
