Alan William JOYNT

August 27, 2003

Alan Joynt passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 79 years. He was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Renfrew, ON.

Alan is survived by his daughter: Jeanette (Rick); granddaughter: Christia; brother: David (Jeanne); and sister, Edith (Robert) Pascoe.

He was predeceased by Dorothy, the mother of Jeanette; his brothers: Hugh and Jim Joynt; sisters: Kate Wood and Margaret Checkly; sister-in-law: Verna Joynt; brothers-in-law: JJ Wood and J. Checkly.

A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 1, 2003 at Christ Lutheran Church with Pam Pederson officiating.

Alan was a Flight Lieutenant during World War II. After the war, he returned to Canada and became a mechanic for CN Rail. He worked around Sudbury, ON, before coming to B.C. where he worked in the pulp mill at Port Alice on Vancouver Island. He also worked in logging camps in Prince George and Harrison Lake.

Alan moved to Boston Bar in 1971 and started working for Hampton Sawmill as a heavy duty mechanic. The sawmill was taken over by BCFP then Fletcher Challenge before his retirement in 1989.

Al finally settled in Chilliwack and made his home at McIntosh Lodge. He went for his last drink at the pub on Aug. 27, 2003.

Alan will be sadly missed by his daughter Jen; granddaughter, Christia; family and friends.
