Alan was born in North Vancouver on November 30, 1934, a third son to Donald and Jessie Dungate.

He trained as a machinist following his father’s trade. Alan worked in many industries throughout the province including North Vancouver, Squamish, North Thompson, Okanagan, Kootneys, and Vancouver Island.

He was a proud “big brother” and volunteered many hours to the Atchelitz Thresherman’s Assoc. Alan loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and his dogs. He spent much of his retirement travelling to new and favourite backroad spots.

Alan died peacefully April 20, 2009 at the Cascade Hospice Residence in Chilliwack. He is survived by brothers: Don (Grace), Gordon (Irene), Ia; and many nieces, nephews and their families as well as his “little brother” Mike Olsen and family.

Thanks to staff at Cascade Hospice and homecare nurses. Flowers are gratefully declined; memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A Memorial tribute will be held Saturday, May 9th 2009 at 11:30 a.m. from the Chapel at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack.

On the road again …
