Alan Bennett

November 6, 1958 - March 28, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Alan Bennett on March 28, 2025, at the South Okanagan General Hospital.

When it comes to being a partner, father, son and brother Alan was the GOAT. Al leaves behind his wife Colleen, children Cameron (Izzy) and Kerry (Alex). He is survived by his sister Diane (Hank) Goor, and brother Bob (Kate) Bennett.

Al was born into a military family in Montreal Nov 6, 1958. Most of his mother's family lived in Quebec, and yet he never learned a single phrase in French! The family settled in Chilliwack BC and Alan followed his father's footsteps, joining the cadets in high school and then going on to having a successful career with the Military Engineers as a member of 1CER. Al was committed to moving up the ranks, and retired as a Master Warrant Officer in 1998. Along the way he met and married Colleen, having 2 beautiful children. The military provided him a second home and a pack of lifelong friends.

Al's second career was in Ottawa with Med Eng. Al thrived at Med Eng and retired in 2023 as the International Sales rep for Asia Pacific. The friends he made with coworkers and worldwide partners were so valuable to him.

For all his accomplishments Al's proudest role was as a husband and father. He happily went along with all the "great ideas" Colleen woke up with, and supported Cameron and Kerry unconditionally. We will forever cherish all the wonderful memories we created in his short time with us.

An informal memorial service will be held at the Great Blue Heron Reserve at 2pm on May 13th. Please bring lawn chairs if you would like to sit, and a reusable coffee cup! We would love to have friends share memories so please contact Colleen, Bob, or Diane so we can include you.
