Agnes Irene Skelton passed away peacefully at The Waverly on Monday, January 30, 2006 at the age of 97. She was born in Carberry, Manitoba on November 24, 1908. With her parents, she emigrated to B.C. as an infant and lived a long and active life in Chilliwack.
On the death of her husband Norman in 1964, she built and managed Norman Manor for almost three decades. She was a former member of the IODE and an avid gardener. She loved her roses and sweet peas and generously shared her many fruits, vegetables, and flowers with family, friends, and the community. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
Agnes is predeceased by a devoted husband Norman, to whom Norman Manor was dedicated, and by her five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her four sons; Don (Kirstine) of Victoria, Bob (Mary) of London, ON, Lloyd (Jane) of W. Vancouver, and Stan (Chris) of Kimberly, ten grandchildren; Ian, Craig, Sandra (Doug), Keith (Deb), Dave, Jeff R. (Dionne), Karena (Mike), Jeff E., Mark, Kathryn (Eric) and eight great-grandchildren; Gwen, Caitlyn, Andrew C., Andrew D., Sean, Taylor, Matt, and Jonah. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you from the family is extended to her caring friend Margaret and the compassionate staff at The Waverly, to her niece Gwen who helped her in so many ways, to her former daughter-in-law Peg, and to Hazel, Wendy, and Glen who supported her so generously in her love of gardening.
A memorial service will be held at Chilliwack United Church on Monday, February 6, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Doug Ireland officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack, B.C., V2P 1T4, the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
