On Thursday, November 6, 2008, according to God’s perfect plan, our loving mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother went to be home forever with her Lord and Saviour.
Adele Birkholz was born in Marzelowka, Poland on January 14, 1914 to her parents Natalie and Ferdinand Kurtz. Her childhood and youth years were unusually difficult.
She was married to August Birkholz on December 26, 1930. After residing in post war Germany for seven years, the family immigrated to Canada in 1952, establishing their new home in Chilliwack, BC
Adele worked at Fraservale Frozen Foods for 20 years. The family purchased a dairy farm on Chilliwack Central Rd. in February 1959, where Adele resided until March of 2008. Thereafter she resided briefly at Valley Haven Guest Home and then she moved to Cascade Lodge where she passed away peacefully.
Adele loved her Lord and Saviour and was a faithful member of the Church of God (German) on Lewis Ave. She loved the fellowship of her church family.
Adele is survived by her sons; William, Ernie (Susie), all of Chilliwack, and Horst (Doris) of Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by one brother Erich, and a number of nephews and nieces, all of Ger–many. She will be fondly remembered by her eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Adele was predeceased by her husband in September 1991 and infant son Siegbert in 1940.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Chilliwack, BC.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from the German Church of God, 45814 Lewis Ave., Chilliwack, BC. Interment will follow the service at Chilliwack Cemetery.
