Welcome rain could bring thunderstorms today

Rainy weather across province, including Chilliwack

Chilliwack woke up to rain Thursday morning, after a long stretch of hot and sunny weather.

Environment Canada says the showers will end late this afternoon, and the weather brings a risk of thunderstorms. Despite the rain, there will be a high of 20 degrees.

The rain will return on Friday, they say, and possibly Saturday. But by Sunday, the summer weather is back with a forecast high of 30 degrees. The rain will be a break for those who were bothered by the smoky particulates settling in the region over the past week, from the forest fires burning throughout the province.

While the rain is likely helping with some of the fires today, it is also bringing a chance of thunderstorms to affected areas, including 100 Mile House and Williams Lake.
