RCMP hope footage from a dash cam or home security camera will help ID a suspect in an alleged hit-and-run.

Around 9:15 a.m. on May 3, a car was spotted going too fast on Victoria Avenue in downtown Chilliwack. It ran into a road sign but was gone before police arrived.

“The location of the collision is an area often frequented by playing children,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a gold-coloured late-model Chevrolet two-door car that would likely now have damage on the front end. People who were in the area of Victoria Avenue and Mill Street between 9 and 10 a.m. on May 3 and have dash cam or home security camera footage are asked to call the police.

Anyone with information can reach the police by phone at 604-792-4611 or dial Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
