Two homes on Logan Road in Agassiz suffered significant fire damage early Wednesday morning after a blaze broke out in the home on the right. It's the second fire in the duplex this year.

RCMP and fire officials were at a home on Logan Road Wednesday that was gutted by fire earlier that morning.

The home was vacant at the time. It was undergoing repairs following a fire that damaged the other half of the duplex in January.

Flames from the fire were so intense a house next door was also damaged in the blaze.

Police tape was around the building Wednesday morning and an RCMP member was posted outside. However, RCMP have yet to release any official word on the blaze, only that the investigation is in its preliminary stages.

The fire came around the same time police were responding to an early morning stabbing in Agassiz.

Police say the two incidents are being investigated separately.

Anyone with information regarding either investigations is urged to contact the Agassiz RCMP at 604-796-2211 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
