Trustee candidate Silvia Dyck

School District 33: Dyck, Silvia – school trustee: Silvia Dyck seeks a 6th term as school trustee

Having had the privilege of serving the Chilliwack community as school trustee for five terms, I am eager to serve the 6th!

Students and staff were challenged in the past year with disruptions of their learning and working environments by the massive construction agenda in our school district. This was but one of the successes of the past Boards of Education in delivering three new innovative learning environments for our staff, students and community.

In listening carefully to our community we have undertaken a Special Education Review and started Chilliwack’s first early French Immersion program which begins this school year.

Success is achieved by working together.  Our students and community deserve no less than our full commitment to work collaboratively and collegially in striving for the best education possible for all of our Chilliwack students.

`Future challenges are the renewal of our Strategic Plan , continuing the implementation of the recommendations of the Special Education Review and preserving  a broad  liberal arts education for our students which may be challenged by a government that seems to believe we are educating workers, not citizens.

I look forward to serving students, staff and community for another term.
