Truck knocks out power in early-morning accident

A single vehicle accident on Chilliwack Central Road left nearly 3,600 people without power Tuesday morning.

Nearly 3,600 people were left without power Tuesday morning, and Chilliwack Central Road remained closed Tuesday afternoon, after a single vehicle accident knocked out a power pole.

Early Tuesday morning, a transport truck and trailer side slipped onto the shoulder and then into a ditch.

It grazed a power pole on its way, with just enough impact to knock out service.

Power blinked off at 4:07 a.m. and was restored by 6:45 a.m.

The truck was the only vehicle on the road, and it sustained minor damage. The driver was the only person in the truck, coming away with a bruised shoulder.
