Traffic is again moving smoothly westbound on Highway 1 following a collision that could have been much more serious.
Highway crews had been working on the median west of Lickman road Tuesday night when a tractor-trailer unit slammed into equipment being used by the workers. The impact pushed the median into the oncoming lane and the trailer overturned.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately no highway workers were injured.
The incident delayed westbound traffic on the busy highway until it was cleared at around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
