Taxi driver escapes gun-point robbery

Two women tried to rob a Chilliwack taxi driver early Tuesday morning, demanding money with a gun and pepper-spray.

Chilliwack RCMP are looking for two women who tried to rob a taxi driver early Tuesday morning.

The driver picked up the two women just before 5 a.m. in the downtown Chilliwack area, and took them to the 45,000 block of Wolfe Road.

Instead of paying, one of the women pulled a gun on the driver and demanded money. As the other woman pulled out pepper spray, the driver got out of the car and ran away.

The driver escaped injury.

If anyone saw anything out of the ordinary, we want to hear from you,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail. “What could seem to be an insignificant detail could prove to be very important in this investigation.”

Anyone with info is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611, referring to file number 2015-667, or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
