Sketch of a suspect sought by Chilliwack RCMP in connection with an assault on a woman June 6.

Chilliwack RCMP have released the sketch of a man they believe responsible for the attack on a woman on Fairfield Island three weeks ago.

A 46-year-old woman was jogging home along Hope River Road around at around 11 p.m. on June 6 when she was assaulted by an unknown man near the front entrance to Gwynne Vaughan Park.  The woman fought back and the man ran away.

The suspect is described as a caucasian man in his 30s with longer hair pushed to one side, and has facial hair with approximately one to two weeks growth.  He had a slim to medium build and a mole or mark on the left side of  his face.  He was wearing dark coloured pants and a dark coloured long-sleeved shirt.  A composite sketch of the man is now being released to the public with hopes he can be identified as a person of interest.

"In these types of investigations the police rely on the public's help," says Cst. Tracy Wolbeck  "This incident is very concerning to the police and we are hoping that the community can assist us with identifying the man in the composite sketch to further our investigation."

It's important to remember all composite sketches are an artistic interpretation made based on witness statements to produce a likeness of a suspect for identification, RCMP say.  In this case there may be certain characteristics that may not exactly be the true likeness of the suspect involved in this case, but may be similar in nature.

Anyone that can identify this man or has any other information is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
