A man charged with three robberies in Abbotsford and one in Chilliwack has been sentenced to a jail term of two years less a day.

Christopher John Olson, 38, of Chilliwack previously pleaded guilty to the four robberies and was sentenced Monday in Abbotsford provincial court.

Charges of using an imitation firearm in each of the robberies were stayed.

The robberies took place in Abbotsford on May 26, 2013 at a liquor store in the 1900 block of North Parallel Road, on June 1 at a bank in the 32100 block of South Fraser Way, and on June 3 at a liquor store in the 30400 block of Cardinal Avenue.

Olson also robbed a gas station in Chilliwack on May 24.

The Abbotsford Police department released video surveillance photos from the incidents on May 26 and June 1 to help identify Olson.

At the time, he was described as a stocky man in his 30s or 40s wearing glasses and a baseball cap.

He was arrested last June in the 30800 block of Peardonville Road in Abbotsford.

Olson was released from prison in August on $5,000 bail and, in November, was charged with driving while prohibited in Chilliwack.

He also pleaded guilty to that offence and, on Monday, was issued a further 18-month driving ban.
