May the best name win!

The second round of voting to name the City of Chilliwack’s new bike-lane sweeper is now open, after officials received more than 400 suggestions in the first round last month.

Citizens are now asked to vote online for their favourite name among the top 10 ideas winnowed down to help name the new sweeper that fits into smaller spaces to reach bike-lane debris.

The suggestions: Cheamboni, Dust in Time, Dusty McBristles, Little Bo Sweep, Obi Wan Cleanobi, Sweeperella, Sweeping Beauty, The Grim Sweeper, Tidy Tim, and Zambroomi.

The one that gets the most votes will become the name of the newest city sweeper that will be put to work making bike travel safer.

Residents can vote for their favourite at engagechilliwack.com/NameTheSweeper now until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who sent in a suggestion,” said Mayor Ken Popove. “Our staff have had a great time going through everyone’s ideas and no matter which name the community chooses, I know it’s going to put smiles on a lot of faces. May the best name win!”

The winner will be officially announced the week of June 19 at engagechilliwack.com/NameTheSweeper, and on the city’s social media pages.
