The title of the Cyrus Centre fundraising event, 'Scrap Cars, Not Kids' is geared to tugging at the heartstrings.

Cyrus Centre Chilliwack is putting out the call for help from the community as they "recycle young lives" at the youth shelter, by soliciting donations of recyclable metal.

On Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. volunteers will be accepting scrap metal donations at Central Community Church (46100 Chilliwack Central Rd.) on behalf of Cyrus Centre.

They will accept items like old bikes, lawn mowers, appliances, BBQs, bed frames, swing sets, car parts, batteries, and old vehicles.
