The public is being warned to stay clear of the foreshore near Old Orchard Road that has been deeply eroded by the Fraser River.

Off road enthusiasts are being warned to stay away from a section of the Fraser River adjacent to Old Orchard Road.

The river has cut a deep scour in the foreshore, eroding a road that led to Old Orchard Bar.

The area is popular spot for ATV riders, anglers and campers.

Although there is a sign warning vehicles to stay away, access to the roadway was still open Friday.

Chilliwack Mayor Sharon Gatez used Instagram to warn the public: “Please spread the word and do NOT head out to that area. This is very dangerous,” she said.

The land is under provincial jurisdiction, she added. And the province has been informed.
