RCMP investigate two attacks in Chilliwack’s downtown

A Chilliwack man was stabbed and an Agassiz man beaten in separate incidents Saturday night, but police don't believe they're linked.

A 26-year-old Chilliwack man was stabbed repeatedly early Saturday morning in the 46200-block of Yale Road in downtown Chilliwack.

Police said the victim and his friends were walking along Yale Road at about 3:40 a.m. when they came upon three men.

“After a brief discussion, the three other men attacked the victim stabbing him several times,” RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck said in a news release.

The victim is cooperating with police, she said, but witnesses to the attack are still being sought by RCMP investigators.

“This was a very serious incident and we are looking for any witnesses who may have seen something that night,” she said.

A 27-year-old Agassiz man was also attacked in the downtown area at about 2 a.m., but police said his head injuries were such that he could not initially provide many details of the attack.

Wolbeck said it doesn’t appear the two incidents are linked.

“It’s an avenue we’ll consider, but it’s too early in the investigation to link them in any way,” she said.

Anyone with information about the two incidents is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
