A suspect is at large after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a stranger in a washroom stall at the Grandview recreation centre.
Surrey RCMP are appealing for information from the public after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a man she did not know while in the stall of a washroom at the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre. In a news release, police state the victim was assaulted on Wednesday (July 31) around 8 a.m.
The woman told police she entered a washroom stall when the suspect, described as a Caucasian male with medium build, entered the stall and "confronted" her. The man allegedly assaulted and groped the victim who then alerted others, leading him to run out of the stall.
The man, who is said to have been wearing a grey shirt, black shorts and a black hat, was unknown to the victim, police state.
"The brazen nature of this incident is extremely concerning," Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha said in the release.
Surrey RCMP are asking anyone who was around the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. who may have witnessed anything suspicious to come forward and call police. Surrey RCMP can be reached at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-112116.
