Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating the death of a woman who was dropped off at Peace Arch Hospital hospital Wednesday morning (June 17).

At around 5:30 a.m., police were contacted by the hospital about a woman in her 30s who had been brought in with what were described as serious injuries. She later died in hospital.

The cause of the woman’s injuries is unknown, and her death is being treated as suspicious, Surrey RCMP said in a release issued Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, police conducted an investigation to gather evidence in the 2700-block of 168 Street, following reports that the woman may have been in the area earlier in the morning or the previous day.

Investigators are working to determine how the woman was injured and are tracing her movements prior to the time she sustained her injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.

The stretch of 168 Street has been blocked to traffic while police conduct their investigation.
