Nearly 50 cm of snow fell over a three-day period from Dec. 9 to 11 in Chilliwack.

City workers were working around the clock clearing roadways. The city has at its disposal 15 snow plows/sanding trucks, six backhoes, four graders and a variety of smaller plowing trucks, all of which were being used throughout the weekend.

For those living on the streets without a place to sleep, a number of extreme weather beds and emergency shelters were put to good use during the snow storm.

Students were given the gift of a snow day Monday as streets and sidewalks hadn't yet been cleared of Sunday's snowfall.

Additionally, the Chilliwack and District Seniors' Resource Society says Snow Angels are desperately needed this winter, to help residents dig out from our recent winter storm.
